Leon Russell In Memoriam
Still trying to assimilate the death of Leonard Cohen, we were dismayed today by the passing of the great Leon Russell. A legendary backroom boy in the Sixties, Russell was more of a cult figure than a superstar, though this did not prevent him from being the top concert attraction of 1973 according to Billboard Magazine. We grew up on his most famous album, the immortal Carney, which has a proud place on our wall. And like our mama and grandma, he was from Oklahoma. May his memory be a blessing.
