Polaroids by Walker Evans

One of the 20th century’s essential photographers, pioneer documentarist and poetic reflector of the American scene, Walker Evans was born on this day 111 years ago. Though his photos from the Great Depression are among the iconic images of the era I’ve chosen to post some of his later, more abstract work taken with a colour Polaroid camera near the end of his life. There is a great deal of Walker Evans material on the internet: here, here, here and here are some of the better links I found in a quick search.
